Paris. He was named Grand Aumonier of Henri II in 1552, and was confessor of Diane de Poitiers, Catherine de Medicis, and Henri II. In 1556 he became Dean of S.-Germain-l'-Auxerrois. He was named Bishop of Lodève in 1558, but before he could receive his bulls he was appointed Bishop of Lisieux on 29 January 1560, and was installed by proxy on 11 January 1561. He arrived in Lisieux on 25 March. Though he was a strong adversary of the Protestants, he protected the
