Standard Arabic and the spoken dialect "are the same language", but in reality both forms of Arabic are so different that without proper training they are not mutually intelligible. Television and videos may have spread the knowledge of Standard Arabic in recent decades but this does not bridge the difference between the two language forms. As far as I know, Standard Arabic which is almost the only written language, is hardly the mother tongue of any Egyptian children. Would it be possible to address this problem? -
