room for expansion or particularly make sense. How does polling equate to a channel access method? Tokens are a general shared resource concept that can/were applied to transmission mediums. I don't see much expansion in this area as the only stuff out there are proprietary implementations of token rings (for instance, the token bus). I'm also confused about the resource reservation section. If it's a true resource reservation, then it's a circuit based communication, for example: selecting only assigned time slots in TDMA. If it's not a true resource reservation, then it's a contention based communication, for example: selecting random time slots in TDMA.
