6522:"منصة اللاجئين في مصر-Refugees' platform in Egypt - The Sudanese refugee community in Egypt was shocked last Thursday by the news of the death of a pregnant Sudanese refugee after her foetus died inside her womb, which led to a poisoning that resulted in her death. According to Sudanese female witnesses, who happened to be in front of the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in "6th of October" city to complete their papers, the Sudanese refugee "Taghred Ishaq Ali" (residing in Maadi) was sitting in front of the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees last Thursday, September 2, when she fell in a state of complete fatigue and with suspected preeclampsia, she was transferred to a nearby hospital which refused to receive her because neither her husband nor any of her family members were present to sign the papers necessary for the operation, and the procedures were not completed, as she died shortly after the death of her foetus. The thirty-five-year-old, Mrs. Taghreed, arrived in Egypt sixteen years ago and applied for asylum at the United Nations High Commissioner in April 2005. According to Sudanese female witnesses who attended the incident mentioned that Taghreed was always present in front of the UNHCR office throughout the past period without explaining the reason for her constant presence. the witness added, "some refugees do this when they are stranded and need urgent help, and at the same time they cannot speak with a staff member directly through the phone numbers and e-mail designated by UNHCR." According to Mr. Abdel Moneim El Idrissi, head of the General Assembly of Sudanese Refugees in Egypt, the association assigned a committee of its members to follow up the case and try to reach a member of the family of the deceased. On the other side, the refugees who attended her death and went with her to the hospital are still looking for a member of her family to complete the burial permit and procedures. | Facebook" 1932:'s report accused the Egyptian authority of violating human rights. On February 9, 2017, El Nadeem Center for rehabilitation of victims of violence was shut down. The shutdown of the center was considered another shocking attack on civil society since it offers supporting victims of torture and other ill-treatment and families of people subjected to enforced disappearances in the country, which should have been given support not punishment over carrying out its values. As the report suggested, the shutdown of the center follows a year of harassment by the authorities on human rights activists; yet the center made a judicial appeal against the decision. The police carried out the latest raid without waiting for the outcome of this appeal, however. The Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies documented 39 people who have been executed since December 2017. These individuals were mostly civilians who were convicted under military jurisdiction which is in violation of International human rights standards. 2118:, President El-Sisi has been able to hold political prisoners on a "vastly greater scale" than his predecessors by using pretrial detention. Prisoners can be detained for five months if prosecutors request more time to investigate. After five months, the detainee get a hearing before a terrorism court judge, "who can renew detentions for 45 days at a time. The hearings are closed to the public, even to detainees’ families. Defendants appear in crowded, soundproof glass cages that are muted to keep them from being heard — or even from hearing their own judgments. The 45-day of additional detention "can be renewed repeatedly for up to two years. After that, the law requires that the detainee be released, though that does not always happen. In many cases, prosecutors simply bring a new case, starting the two-year timer all over again." 1466:
after a single hearing, the Supreme Administrative Council of Egypt ruled against the Baháʼís, stating that the government may not recognize the Baháʼí Faith in official identification numbers. The ruling left Baháʼís unable to obtain the necessary government documents to have rights in their country unless they lie about their religion, which conflicts with Baháʼí religious principle. Baháʼís cannot obtain identification cards, birth certificates, death certificates, marriage or divorce certificates, or passports. Without those documents, they cannot be employed, educated, treated in hospitals, or vote, among other things. In 2008, a Cairo court ruled that Baháʼís may obtain birth certificates and identification documents, so long as they omit their religion on court documents.

The RsF group laments that the Sisi government has "bought up the biggest media groups to the point that it now controls the entire media landscape and has imposed a complete clampdown on free speech."
